Data loss prevention that keeps sensitive information inside your company
We work with you to define what's sensitive and where it's allowed to go. If a file with customer data, payroll or contracts tries to leave through an unapproved channel, the policy stops it and logs it.

What data loss prevention (DLP) is — and when a business needs it
Data loss prevention (DLP) is a set of company policies that control where sensitive information is allowed to go. It's about protecting data, not watching people. A policy might say that a file containing Social Security numbers or customer bank details can't be copied to a USB drive or emailed to a personal address — and the endpoint agent enforces it on company computers.
Most data leaks aren't the work of a sophisticated attacker. They're everyday: a customer list walking out on a thumb drive when someone changes jobs, a payroll file sent to the wrong recipient, a contract uploaded to a personal cloud account to 'finish it at home.' Customer contracts, cyber-insurance questionnaires and the privacy laws that apply to your business increasingly ask what you're doing about it. A DLP policy is a concrete, documented answer.
We run Acronis Data Loss Prevention (DLP), part of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud. Acronis states it controls more than 70 exit channels — removable storage, printers, email, messaging apps, file-sharing services, social networks and web transfers. What sets it apart is how policies get built: it starts in observation mode, learns how data normally moves in your business, and proposes rules from that behavior instead of making you write hundreds of rules from scratch.
Our job is to turn that into a process your leadership understands and signs off on. During observation — usually a few weeks — nothing is blocked. Then we sit down with someone who knows your business processes (they don't need to be technical), review what the system found and agree which data flows are legitimate. Only then do we switch enforcement on. From there we handle incidents, adjust rules when processes change, and send a monthly report.
No IT department? We run it end to end, and the business decisions — what's allowed, what isn't — stay with your leadership. Have an IT team? They work in the same console: they see incidents, take part in tuning and stay in control, while we bring the initial configuration, fine-tuning and incident support.
mitecni.co is an Acronis Platinum Service Provider based in Colombia, serving companies in Colombia and the US. The service is delivered remotely, in English, on UTC-5. And to be clear about what we don't do: DLP doesn't read personal conversations or track anyone's productivity. It enforces the information policies your company should already have in writing — and if you don't have them yet, we'll help you draft them.

Process
How we implement data loss prevention
- 01
30-minute call
We talk through what's sensitive in your business (customer records, payroll, contracts, designs, health data), who handles it, and any incidents or customer and insurer requirements you're facing.
- 02
Written proposal
You get the scope (devices, channels, phases), response times in writing and the monthly fee.
- 03
Observation and sign-off
We deploy the agent and run the policy in observation mode, with no blocking. Then we review the findings with you and sign off on legitimate data flows.
- 04
Enforcement, operation and reporting
We enforce the approved policy, handle incidents, adjust when processes change and send a monthly report on blocked attempts and recommendations.
FAQ
Data loss prevention FAQs
What is data loss prevention (DLP)?
It's a set of company policies that define which information is sensitive and which channels it may leave through. An agent on each computer enforces those policies: if a sensitive file tries to leave through an unapproved channel, such as a USB drive or personal email, it's blocked or logged, depending on what the company decided.
Is this a way to monitor employees?
No, and we don't offer it for that. DLP protects information, not people: it doesn't read personal conversations or measure productivity. We recommend telling your staff about your information-handling policies, and we can help you write that notice.
Will it get in the way of normal work?
It shouldn't. That's why we start in observation mode with nothing blocked, and only enforce after you've signed off on which data flows are legitimate. If a process changes and the policy gets in the way, we adjust it.
Which devices does it cover?
Data loss prevention runs on Windows devices; it is not available on macOS today. On the call we review your fleet (including personal devices used for work) and confirm in writing what's covered.
How much does managed DLP cost?
It depends on how many computers you cover, how many channels you want to control, and how much help you need defining policies. It's billed per device per month. After a 30-minute call we send a written proposal.
How long until it's up and running?
Deployment is quick; observation takes a few weeks depending on how varied your operations are, and sign-off with you usually takes a day or two of work. The proposal includes the timeline.
We also operate in Colombia. Does this help with Colombia's data protection law?
It helps with part of it. Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012 requires technical and administrative measures to protect personal data, and a DLP policy with an incident log is a concrete technical measure. Full compliance also involves your data-handling policy, consents and internal processes. We're not auditors or lawyers; we cover the technical side.
