The service

What a cloud migration involves — and how to do it without losing days of work

A cloud migration moves the servers, applications and data running in your office to a cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or a local cloud in a Colombian data center. Done right, your team works the same or better the next morning. Done wrong, it's a week of outages, locked-out users and a monthly bill nobody saw coming.

The tool isn't what de-risks a migration — the plan is. Before anything moves, you need to know what runs on each server, what depends on what, which licenses allow cloud hosting, what it'll cost per month, and the right order of operations. You also need to decide what shouldn't move. That's why every migration we run starts with an assessment and a written plan your leadership signs off on before we touch a server.

We migrate in phases, inside agreed windows, usually outside peak hours. Before each step we take a full backup with Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, so there's always a known-good point to roll back to. The same platform we run as an Acronis Platinum Service Provider can restore a whole server from backup into a virtual machine, which often shortens the move. When an application calls for it, we do a clean install at the destination and move only the data.

We also move what surrounds the server: email to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, file shares to a cloud server or to OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive, and user access. And we don't disappear at go-live. The server stays protected, backed up and monitored under our managed cloud server service, and in the first month we review real usage with you to right-size it and avoid overspending.

No IT department? We run the whole project, including coordination with your software vendors. Have an IT team? We work as an extension of it: they know the applications and users; we bring the method, the hands-on execution, a backup before every step and a rollback plan if something doesn't go as expected.

An honest caveat: not everything belongs in the cloud. If a system depends on special hardware on-site, needs instant response at a location with poor connectivity, or its license doesn't allow it, the assessment will say so. mitecni.co is based in Colombia and serves companies in Colombia and the US; migrations are run remotely, in English, on UTC-5, with windows scheduled around your business hours.

  • Assessment and written plan before anything moves
  • Phased migration in agreed windows, without stopping the business
  • Full backup before every step and a defined rollback plan
  • Servers, data, email and file shares — not just the VM
  • Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or regional cloud, whichever fits
  • Post-migration support and right-sizing based on real usage

Process

How we move your business to the cloud

  1. 01

    30-minute call and assessment

We talk through your goals, then inventory servers, applications, data, licenses, dependencies and connectivity. We identify what should move, what shouldn't, and in what order.

  2. 02

    Written plan and proposal

You get the migration plan (phases, windows, owners, rollback), estimated monthly cloud cost, the project fee and the ongoing management fee. Leadership signs off before we start.

  3. 03

    Phased migration, business keeps running

We take a full backup, migrate in the agreed window, validate with your users that everything works, and only then move to the next phase.

  4. 04

    Support and tuning after go-live

We stay close for the first few weeks, fix whatever comes up, right-size based on real usage and leave the server protected, backed up and monitored.

FAQ

Cloud migration FAQs

What does a cloud migration service include?

An assessment of what you run today, a written migration plan, the phased move of servers, data, email and file shares to Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or a local cloud in a Colombian data center, validation with your users, and support after go-live.

Will we be down during the migration?

The goal is no. We migrate in phases during agreed windows, usually outside peak hours, with a full backup before each step and a rollback plan. If a phase needs a short pause, it's announced in advance in the plan.

How long does a cloud migration take?

It depends on the number of servers, data volume, your internet bandwidth and how many applications need validation. A simple server can move in days; an environment with several servers and apps takes longer. The timeline is in the written plan.

How much does cloud migration cost?

There are two separate costs: the migration project (driven by how many servers, how much data and how many applications must be moved and validated) and the ongoing monthly cost (cloud plus management). We quote both separately, in writing, after a 30-minute call and the assessment.

What if something goes wrong mid-migration?

That's what the rollback plan is for. We take a full backup before every step; if validation fails, we roll back and your team keeps working on the original system while we fix it.

Azure, AWS or Google Cloud — which is right for us?

It depends on your applications, licensing and costs. If you live in Microsoft 365, Azure is often the natural fit; specific software requirements may point elsewhere. The assessment gives you a written recommendation with the reasoning.

Do you migrate email and file shares too?

Yes. We move email to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and file shares to a cloud server or to OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive, depending on how your team works.
